Tian, Zhang, and Gong, three students from Beijing Aidi School British Senior Education, achieved perfect scores in IGCSE Mathematics and were awarded the Top in the World Award at the 2025 Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards. This is the highest recognition granted by Cambridge Assessment International Education, honoring students with outstanding academic performance worldwide. Among hundreds of thousands of peers globally, they stood at the pinnacle.
Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards
With three students receiving the honor this year, Aidi School has now nurtured a total of seven Cambridge Outstanding Learner Award recipients, including four Top in the World and three Top in the Country. Behind these remarkable achievements lies the long-term dedication of the academic team of AIDI BSE.
In the eyes of their teachers, these three students differ greatly in personality and learning style. Their journeys prove that there is no single formula for reaching excellence.
A Multi-Talented Pursuer of Excellence
“In addition to the Cambridge award, I’ve competed extensively. My journey includes the highest-level math competition in Grade 10, biology contests like the IBO, BBO and ASOB. In business, our team secured a silver medal in last year’s NEC. This diverse portfolio owes much to the school’s robust competition support system,” she notes.
Beyond academics, Aidi’s diverse extracurricular opportunities have allowed her to explore her full potential. As Vice President of the BSE Student Union and Deputy Head of the HOSA Club, she developed leadership and practical skills through organizing academic and community activities. By integrating academic achievement, campus engagement, and clear future goals, she has grown into a confident, self-directed learner.
An Innovative and Well-Rounded Thinker
On the day of the award ceremony, he stayed up late developing a scheduling program for the BSE curriculum. Even when an idea proved unsuccessful, he welcomed the opportunity to test the next one. A natural problem-solver and leader, he thrives on exploring new possibilities across disciplines.
He founded a business competition club and joined both the Turing Club and Model UN, later becoming President of the former and Vice President of the latter. At the Turing Club, he applied mathematical thinking to master AI and classical algorithms; at Model UN, he debated global issues with logical rigor and persuasive delivery, earning wide acclaim.
He has participated in competitions such as AMC, BMO, BPHO, and ACSL, steadily strengthening his academic profile for future applications to top universities. Beyond academics, time spent on the football field and golf course helps him maintain balance, reflecting his well-rounded development.
“My dream is to apply for Computer Science at the University of Cambridge and pursue what I truly love,” Gong says. For him, mathematics is not just a subject, but a way of thinking and a lens through which to understand the world.
Quiet, Focused, and Deeply Analytical
His habit of carefully reviewing every solution and checking for missing conditions enabled him to achieve a flawless performance in the IGCSE Mathematics exam. Coming from a family where all four siblings chose Aidi, his success reflects both personal dedication and deep trust in the school’s educational philosophy.
Winning the Top in the World Award is not an end for him, but a confirmation that he has found the right path.
As we celebrate the achievements of these three students, we see more than individual awards. What we truly witness is the essence of Aidi’s education: a respect for every student’s uniqueness and potential.
A Replicable Pathway to Excellence
Student-centered education is not a slogan. It means accurately matching each student’s learning rhythm,” says Teacher Wang, Head of the BSE Mathematics Department.
Her teaching integrates differentiated challenges, engages students in error analysis, and enhances feedback through platforms like ClassIn and ManageBac. In the June IGCSE examinations, 17 out of 18 students in her class achieved an A*, with a 100% rate of A or above. At Aidi, excellence is not the exception; it is the norm.
“Seven award winners, a class of 17 A*s, and four siblings all choosing Aidi — this proves our educational model works,” says Teacher Wang. The Math Department’s established system helps students achieve global distinction, building a strong foundation for top universities like Oxford, Cambridge, and IC.
The stories of these three students demonstrate that excellence can be cultivated and replicated. At Aidi, mathematics is not merely a subject—it is a thinking tool, a way to understand the world, and a foundation for lifelong growth.
Ultimately, the purpose of education is not to enforce a uniform standard, but to unlock each student’s unique potential, broaden their horizons, and guide them toward a richer, more rewarding life.
